Shelley Tomberg

Vice President of Sales

 

With an abundance of creative energy and a passion for relationship management, Shelley Tomberg is an established hospitality marketing and sales expert. She brings over 20 years of experience in brand/image development, sales team management and training, sales strategy, event creation and production, and market research and analysis to Columbia Hospitality.

With an ability to bring both unique and original messaging to each hospitality communications campaign, Shelley oversees all sales and customer programs for Columbia. She leads the consulting division and has completed marketing and sales pre-opening and operational plans for hospitality projects in the Western United States, Canada, Portugal and the United Kingdom.

She was the first employee of the company, hired as the opening director of sales and marketing for Bell Harbor International Conference Center in 1995. Prior to her role with Columbia, Shelley consulted for the Port of Seattle on the Bell Harbor Waterfront Development Project. Earlier in her career, she was the sales and marketing manager for Battelle Conference Center and the director of sales for Gray Line Tours of Seattle.

Shelley is a member of the Marketing Executive Roundtable in Seattle, the American Marketing Association Puget Sound Chapter, and the Seattle Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. She is currently serving on the Northwest Meetings and Events Editorial Advisory Board and has served on the International Association of Conference Centers Advisory Committee, Seattle Chamber of Commerce Small Business Committee, and the Washington Wine Commission Marketing Advisory Board. She is also a mentor for the University of Washington School of Business Sales and Management Program.

A frequent speaker and panelist at hospitality industry and marketing events, Shelley recently presented at the Hotel Design National Conference and was a panelist at Meeting Planners International’s Cascadia Conference. She has also authored articles as a columnist for National Hotel Executive.

Shelley earned a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing Communications from Washington State University.
